1. Does SafetySend allow HIPAA and GLB compliance?
 

 

YES!  SafetySend's "Secure Message" utility allows you to mange HIPAA and GLB electronic compliance requirements with ease.  Seamlessly integrating "secure delivery" and "secure reply" along with requirements such as date expiration retraction and maintains an audit trail documenting each email for accountability.

2. What is “Secure Message ” and how do I use it?
   

“Secure Message” is a utility within our system that allows you to securely communicate PHI via our virtual private network (VPN)   Using SafetySend properly allows you to meet HIPAA and GLB electronic compliance regulations..  The internal "audit tracking"  of the sending and verify that the intended recipient has received and viewed the message, document or file. Your recipient will receive a Notice of Secure Message and a Temporary Password – they enter their email address and then choose a “Permanent Password”  they will use each time you send a “Secure Message”. Any electronic message, file, document, image, video or audio. SafetySend technology scales from a simple email to beyond an MRI.

The SafetySend VPN allows a recipient to REPLY and even ATTACH FILES to a "Secure Message" allowing you to securely communicate with anyone with an email address.

3. How can I change my password?
 

 

Click OPTIONS the tabs at the top of your screen.  Enter your current password in OLD PASSWORD.  Then enter your new password and click SAVE.  That is it.  Congratulations.

5. What is the difference between a Standard Message, Secure Message and File Transfer?
 
  • Standard Message is only encrypted to recipients capable of interfacing with the SafetySend VPN or other comparable VPN.  Once the message leaves our network it it is no longer protected by our Secure VPN. It is not recommended for PHI or confidential material.   This method does not comply with regulatory standards for recipients using standard email services (i.e. @yahoo.com or @aol.com)

  • Secure Message allows anyone to receive and reply to an encrypted message regardless of email address.  It also tracks each message through the delivery process and allows expiration, retraction and other features required by compliance regulations.  It allows you to meet HIPAA and GLB electronic compliance regulations.  Messages using this utility are placed in the AUDIT TRAIL as well as confirmation receipts of delivery.  This utility is the easiest and most flexible method of maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • File Transfer is to send large files securely (Up to 1 Gig) through the VPN and meet electronic compliance regulations.  This feature is used for sending large files used in imaging, audio files or any type of document..

7. Can I use my own domain on the SafetySend VPN?  (i.e. MYDOMAIN.COM)
   

YES!!  SafetySend will be happy to host your domain for you and allow all your existing email addresses to be used on our secure network.  This network will provide the tools that allow your organization to meet HIPAA and GLB electronic requirements.

8. Do you provide REMOTE ADMINISTRATION
   

YES!!  If you are a business or enterprise class customer you are provided a remote web administration utility to manage users.  This utility will allow you to add, delete, change password and many other functions required assist you to comply to HIPAA and GLB electronic communication standards.

9. How does the free trial offer work?
  The free trial offer is for evaluation purposes. A client can elect to continue by enrolling with a paid subscription or let it lapse. Many times the evaluation is for the establishment of a "private label" VPN.

10. Does the recipient of a password protected e-mail (Secure Message) need to be a subscriber of your service?
  No!. A Secure Message can be sent to anyone, regardless of whether or not they have an account with SafetySend.

11. How does a recipient of a password protected email retrieve their secure message if they do not have an account with SafetySend?
 

Unless you choose a specific password before you send the message, a temporary password will be included in the secure message notification. The recipient will need this temporary password in order to change it to one of their choice. Click the image to the right to view a sample notification.
